Preparation instructions for shipping large items via Brenger
This document provides guidelines on how to properly prepare bulky Goods for shipping with Brenger. Following these instructions will ensure the safe and secure transport of your Goods.
Prepare the Good(s)
We generally transport your Good in one piece, delivering it directly from the pick-up location to the delivery address—without any transshipment. This means full disassembly is usually not necessary. However, there are some exceptions, so please read the instructions carefully to ensure your Good is ready for transport.
To be considered shipment-ready, the Good must be prepared as follows:
- Disassemble if needed: Ensure the Good can be safely carried outside of your home by max. 2 people. Each piece of the Good must fit through standard doorways, stairwells, and elevators. If needed, disassemble the Good into smaller sections—but only to the extent required for safe and accessible transport.
- Secure moving parts: Moving parts of the Good, such as doors or drawers, should be secured with tape or straps.
- Bag and attach small accessories: Place loose Goods (screws, remote controls, keys, etc.) in a sealed bag and securely attach it to the Good.
- Final check: Before pickup, take photos of the Good and the packaging process as evidence of condition before shipping.
Packaging requirements
Packaging is generally not required when shipping bulky Goods with Brenger, except when shipping fragile Goods, stainless steel and electric bikes:
- Fragile Goods: glass and natural stone (e.g. pottery, marble): Use bubble wrap on both sides and cardboard sheets for extra protection. Wrap each fragile piece of the Good individually and fill empty spaces with foam padding or packing paper.
- Stainless steel: Wrap in a soft cloth or foam sleeve, then use bubble wrap as the outer layer.
- Electric bikes: Ensure the battery is placed in the bike (batteries cannot be shipped separately!) and turn off the battery.
Prepare your home
It is recommended to take precautions to protect your home during the transport of bulky Goods. This helps avoid scratches, scuffs, or other unintended small damages to floors, walls, or door frames.
- Clear the pathway: Remove rugs, furniture, or other obstacles from the route between the Good and the nearest exit.
- Ensure safe access: Make sure staircases, elevators, and entryways are accessible and free of debris. If your building has specific access requirements (e.g. use of a service elevator), please inform the courier in advance via the Brenger tracking page.
- Relocate fragile decor: Remove or temporarily relocate wall art, mirrors, vases, or other fragile objects that might be bumped during the pickup.
- Protect your floors: Use foil, blankets, or cardboard sheets to cover floors, especially in narrow hallways or entryways.
- Safeguard walls and corners: Apply corner guards or padding to walls or door frames to prevent scratches or dents during the move.
Important considerations
- Weight and size limits: Please make sure to check weight and size limits before sending a bulky Good with Brenger.
- Prohibited Goods: Please make sure to check the list of prohibited Goods before sending a bulky Good with Brenger.
By following these instructions, you minimize the risk of damage and ensure that your Goods arrive safely at their destination. This contributes to satisfied recipients and smoother transactions.
